MedWest Sports Medicine to discuss sports injuries July 20

A physician with MedWest Sports Medicine will discuss how to avoid sports injuries with Haywood County parents and coaches from 7 to 8 p.m. on July 20 in the second floor classrooms at MedWest Health & Fitness Center.

Topics to be discussed include concussions, heat and hydration, lightning and first aid.  Speakers will be Chris Catterson, M.D., an orthopedic specialist and director of the MedWest Sports Medicine program; Lynette Mount, an athletic trainer for MedWest Sports Medicine;  Jenn Mroz, an athletic trainer for MedWest Sports Medicine; and Doug Scarborough, who has a doctorate in physical therapy at MedWest-Haywood.
