MedWest promotes Bruce Moyle, RRT and Malanie Cooper, RT to new roles at MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain

Sylva and Bryson City, N.C. – MedWest Health System has promoted registered respiratory therapist Bruce Moyle, RRT and registered radiology and mammography technologist Malanie Cooper, RT (R)(M) to new roles at MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain.

Moyle is now the director of cardiopulmonary services for MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain, which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with lung and heart disorders.

Cooper is now the imaging manager for MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain. Imaging services at the hospital include X-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography.

Prior to his promotion, Moyle was the clinical coordinator for MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain and was in charge of the day-to-day operations of the hospitals’ cardiopulmonary services.

Moyle joined MedWest-Harris in 2009 after living for many years in the central part of North Carolina. He earned his associate degree from Durham Technical Community College and his bachelor of science degree in respiratory therapy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

“I always wanted to be working in a community hospital in the community where I lived,” said Moyle, who was raised in Candler. “When I came to MedWest-Harris and was living in Sylva, it really was what I wanted to be doing.”

In his new role, Moyle said his goal is to “continue to provide excellent service for my neighbors.”

“Bruce’s vast experience both clinically and in management will be invaluable as he prepares our department for regulatory compliance and surveys,” said Jacky Bradley, BS, CRA, RT (R)(CT)(MR), assistant vice president of imaging/cardiopulmonary/sleep services/central scheduling at MedWest. “I have complete confidence that Bruce will lead our staff competently and efficiently while reaching new milestones in our cardiopulmonary departments.”

Raised in Bryson City, Malanie Cooper has been with MedWest since she was hired in 1994 at MedWest-Swain where she worked as radiologic technologist. She earned an associate degree in radiography from Southwestern Community College.

Prior to her promotion, Cooper was working as the interim imaging manager for MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain. She also worked as the clinical coordinator for the mammography services and has been the lead technologist in the mammography department since 2001.

“My hope is that I will excel in my new role and help my co-workers and make a difference in my community,” she said.

Cooper has been the coordinator of women’s services at the hospital for the past nine years, Bradley said.

“Malanie recently was instrumental in leading our mammography department in a 100 percent compliant state and federal Mammography Quality Standards Act survey,” he said. “I am very excited to promote from within a very competent employee.”
