MedWest offering patients online pre-registration
11/29/2011
To improve the ease and efficiency of patients’ hospital experiences, MedWest Health System is now offering patients the option of pre-registering for services online at www.medwesthealth.org.
After visiting MedWest’s website and clicking on a tab on the right-hand side of the page labeled “Patient Pre-Registration,” patients are directed to links that let them pre-register for services at MedWest-Haywood in Clyde, MedWest-Harris in Sylva, MedWest-Swain and MedWest-Franklin.
Through MedWest’s online pre-registration forms, patients can provide basic information about themselves and details about their emergency contacts, health insurance and treating physicians.
Patients who can pre-register online include those who are having outpatient surgery planned in advance, outpatient diagnostic tests planned in advance (such as MRI scans or X-rays), routine lab services and planned inpatient services, said Sherry A. Keck, assistant vice president for Patient Financial Services for MedWest Health System.
Patients using the online pre-registration must do so at least 24 hours in advance of their planned services.
MedWest rolled out this service system-wide to help reduce patients’ wait times and shorten their time on hospital campuses, Keck said. It also allows MedWest to verify information in advance.
