MedWest-Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care to host unique grief support groups

Waynesville, N.C. – MedWest-Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care will host a three-session support group series entitled “Surviving the Death of a Child” and an ongoing “Art and Soul” group, both of which will begin March 6.

“Surviving the Death of a Child” will meet on March 6, 13, and 20 and April 3 from 5:30-7pm in the Dugan Room (#210) at Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The group, which will be co-facilitated by Robin Minick and Jan Peterson, will focus on surviving and thriving after the death of a child of any age and will explore formation of an ongoing Compassionate Friends support group.

The “Art and Soul” group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month beginning March 6 from 10am-noon in the Dugan Room (#210) at Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The group, co-facilitated by Robin Minick and Judi Steffen, will have an informal setting in which to explore creative ways to express grief through art. No skills are necessary.

Both groups are open to the public. Individual and family bereavement counseling, monthly mailings, and other bereavement support information, services, and contacts are available year-round. Please call Robin Minick, bereavement specialist, at (828) 452-5039 for more information about bereavement services.
