MedWest-Haywood Completes Successful Survey
2/2/2012
Clyde, N.C. – MedWest-Haywood recently completed a survey by The Joint Commission, the organization which accredits and certifies U.S. hospitals and healthcare facilities on safety, quality and value measures.
All areas of the hospital, many outpatient departments, and two physician practices employed by the MedWest Physician Network, were visited by the survey team during the four-day onsite visit January 17-20. Hospitals are subject to a survey by The Joint Commission every three years to ensure the highest quality standards in healthcare for the public.
“This was a very successful survey for MedWest-Haywood, made possible by the excellent preparation on the part of our staff and physicians,” said Mike Poore, Administrator of MedWest-Haywood. “The survey gives us an opportunity to demonstrate the safe, quality patient care we are providing here in Haywood County each and every day.”
The home care department of MedWest-Haywood had no deficiencies, which is exceptional, Poore said. “The surveyors onsite commented that we are setting a precedent for other hospitals in the Carolinas HealthCare System that are due for survey in 2012,” he said.
For the first time ever, physician practices that are integrated with
MedWest-Haywood through the MedWest Physician Network were included in the survey and two locations, Haywood Women’s Medical Center and Mountain Medical Associates, were visited by surveyors.
The initial survey results were delivered to MedWest-Haywood immediately following the visit.
MedWest-Haywood is planning an ice cream social celebration during all hospital shifts to thank staff and physicians for their dedication in preparing for the survey.
