MedWest-Harris Rehabilitation Services hosting free screenings in September

Sylva, N.C. – MedWest-Harris Rehabilitation Services is hosting free hip, speech and swallowing, knee, and foot and ankle screenings in September at MedWest-Harris Rehabilitation Services on the MedWest-Harris campus in Sylva. 

Licensed therapists will conduct the following free screenings and provide recommendations and next-step treatment options: 

•Hip screenings and adult and pediatric speech/swallowing screenings will be performed from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10. Physical therapist Amber Schosser will conduct the hip screenings. Speech-language pathologist Beth Baxley will conduct the adult speech/swallowing screenings, and speech-language pathologist Catherine Overbay will conduct the pediatric speech/swallowing screenings. 

•Knee screenings will be conducted from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 by physical therapist Heather Farson. 

•Foot and ankle screenings will be conducted from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Sept. 26 by doctor of physical therapy Todd Watson.

MedWest Rehabilitation Services include orthopedic manual physical therapy, occupational therapy, hand rehabilitation, speech-language pathology services, occupational rehabilitation, continence and pelvic dysfunction therapy, sports medicine, spine care, balance and vestibular therapy, comprehensive wound care and orthotic and foot care.
