MedWest-Harris hosting free orthopedic screenings

SYLVA, N.C. – MedWest Rehabilitation Services at MedWest-Harris is offering a series of free orthopedic screenings in November. 

Scheduled screenings include: 

Knee and shoulder screening with physical therapist Grant Shanks from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Rehabilitation Department, located in the main building at MedWest-Harris in Sylva. 

Hand screening with Dr. Paul Cutting, an orthopedic doctor at Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists who specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 10 in the MedWest-Harris Rehabilitation Department. The screening will include common hand, wrist and elbow problems, including arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Cutting will be assisted by MedWest occupational therapists. 

Knee Screening with Dr. Judson Garbarino, a physician at Carolina West Sports Medicine who specializes in primary care sports medicine and medical acupuncture, from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at MedWest-Franklin, 55 Holly Springs Dr. Dr. Garbarino will be assisted by physical therapist Jay Williams. 
  
Through the screenings, physicians and rehabilitation professionals are able to recommend next-step treatment options.
