MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain offering free Life’s Path cancer support groups in February
Sylva and Bryson City, N.C. – MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain are offering the following free Life’s Path cancer programs and support groups in February:
Look Good, Feel Better – a program of the American Cancer Society provided as a joint effort with MedWest-Harris – will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Feb. 4 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. Cosmetologists trained by the American Cancer Society will facilitate the workshop and teach women with cancer how to understand and care for changes in skin and hair that may occur during treatment. The American Cancer Society will provide makeup and other supplies during the session.
The Man to Man Support Group for prostate cancer patients and survivors will meet from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11 in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva. The group meets the second Monday of each month. Hugh Moon and Joe Hurt, MD are co-chairmen of the American Cancer Society support group.
The MedWest-Swain WNC Breast Cancer Support Group, which meets the second Tuesday of every month, will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the private dining room next to the cafeteria at MedWest-Swain in Bryson City.
The MedWest-Harris WNC Breast Cancer Support Group, which meets the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Harris Medical Park conference room at 98 Doctors Dr. in Sylva, will meet from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26.

These Life’s Path Support Groups are part of MedWest’s comprehensive cancer treatment services, which include state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and advanced radiation therapy services at Mountain Regional Cancer Center in Sylva.
