MedWest-Harris adds ‘Comfort Zone’ area to gift shop 

Sylva -- MedWest-Harris has expanded the gift shop area off the main lobby hallway to include the ‘Comfort Zone,’ a space to welcome patients, family members, visitors and staff. 

The Comfort Zone is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers comfortable seating and beverages. It is staffed by volunteers available to assist visitors and provide any comfort needed during time spent at MedWest-Harris. 

“The gift shop has been a distinctive feature of MedWest-Harris for more than 20 years and the Comfort Zone is a natural extension of that tradition as we seek to serve our community, in our hospital,” said Carol Douglas, MedWest-Harris volunteer coordinator and gift shop manager. 

More volunteers are still needed. Interested candidates should be compassionate, have good communication skills, be willing to assist visitors, and feel comfortable in a hospital setting.
