HRMC Foundation awards more than $11,000 in grants to support multiple initiatives in various departments at MedWest-Haywood
Clyde, N.C. – The HRMC Foundation on June 25 awarded more than $11,000 in grants to support multiple initiatives in various departments at MedWest-Haywood.
Proceeds from the HRMC Foundation’s 2011 Casino Royale Event funded the following:
$2,500 for a new 2011-2012 Neonatal Resuscitation Program. The grant helps MedWest-Haywood administer the standard of care supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics for administering oxygen to newborns, which requires blenders, humidifiers and warmers.
$2,000 for iPad computers for athletic trainers to have at their disposal on the athletic field so that at the time of injury, photos can be uploaded to MedWest-Haywood sports medicine physicians for rapid treatment intervention to maintain the safety of local athletes.
$2,500 for financial support to transport patients from the MedWest-Haywood Behavioral Health Unit to their homes upon discharge.
$258 for 100 23-page step-by-step workbook guides designed to help individuals and families plan for end-of-life care while participating in a community forum held by MedWest-Haywood in partnership with First Presbyterian Church in Waynesville.
$2,500 to upgrade dry-erase "white boards" in all patient care areas to keep patients better informed about those involved with their care.
$1,481 to create a friendly, safe and colorful children's waiting area with items that are educational and fun in the new MedWest Outpatient Care Center on the MedWest-Haywood campus.
The HRMC Foundation promotes and administers charitable gifts for the advancement of MedWest-Haywood’s abilities to respond fully to the changing and growing health care needs of local citizens. To learn more about the foundation or to make a donation, call (828) 452-8343.
