Free hand screening to be held at MedWest-Swain

BRYSON CITY — Dr. Paul Cutting, an orthopedic surgeon at Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, who specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, will offer a free hand screening July 28 in the rehabilitation department at MedWest-Swain. The screening will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

Dr. Cutting diagnoses and treats fractures, dislocations, nerve and tendon repairs, reconstructions and grafts, sports- and work-related injuries and other hand and upper extremities problems. The screening will include common hand, wrist and elbow problems, including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s Disease.

A West Point graduate, Cutting received his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He completed his residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Ga. He completed his hand surgery fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Raymond A. Curtis National Hand Center.
