Philosophy of Care

Anyone having a life expectancy of less than six months can benefit from hospice services. The sooner an eligible patient receives hospice services, the quicker the care team can assess his/her specific needs and provide the personalized services and support necessary to avoid periods of crisis.

Patients choosing hospice must have a primary care physician. To remain at home, someone must be able to provide care when the patient can no longer safely do so.

Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and private payment may cover Hospice costs. Most insurance companies, HMOs and other health management programs now offer hospice benefits. Our social work staff can help patients or family members determine reimbursement options..
