The treatment facility in Sylva provides the most advanced radiation therapy west of Asheville.The Center offer state-of-the-art treatment of deep tumors as well as a wide range of electron energies for superficial treatment.

David Thomas, MD, Medical Director of the Mountain Regional Cancer Center, is Board Certified in radiation oncology and medical oncology. Dr. Thomas served 5 years as a faculty member in the Department of Radiation Medicine at Georgetown University. The staff also includes a full time board certified radiation oncologist, two board certified medical dosimetrists, two registered nurses with specialized training in oncology, four board registered radiation therapists, an x-ray technologist, a consulting board certified medical physicist and two front office coordinators.
Mountain Regional Cancer Centers serve approximately 350 new patients a year. Mountain Regional Cancer Centers make it possible for residents requiring radiation therapy to receive quality cancer care close to home.
