MedWest-Harris recognized as nationally top-ranked Community Value Five-Star® hospital by leading healthcare financial consulting firm

Sylva, N.C.— MedWest-Harris has been recognized as a nationally top-ranked Community Value Five-Star® hospital by Cleverley + Associates, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm specializing in operational benchmarking for hospitals nationwide. 

Based on the firm’s analysis, MedWest-Harris was ranked as one of the top hospitals in the United States in terms of the value it provides to the community, scoring in the top 20 percent of facilities across the country and making it a Five-Star® hospital in the rankings. MedWest-Harris is one of only 26 hospitals in North Carolina to receive the Five-Star® designation.

The Community Value Index® evaluation consists of 10 measures that assess a hospital’s performance in financial viability and plant reinvestment, hospital cost structure, hospital charge structure, and hospital quality performance. 

The index suggests that a hospital provides value to the community when it is financially viable, appropriately reinvests back into the facility, maintains a low cost structure, has reasonable charges, and provides high-quality care to patients.
